25/10/2007 - Firstplus clarifies sale rumours |
Firstplus has again had to deny rumours that the company has been put up for sale by Barclays, after the largest trade union in Britain called for reassurances.
Fears were raised after a detailed article appeared in a national newspaper which said two American companies were interested in acquiring the Cardiff-based lender. Steve Pantak, regional officer for Unite the Union, said We raised it with the bank and Barclays are adamant that it (Firstplus) is not for sale. They are telling us it was never for sale in any event. In a note to Firstplus staff, Neil Radley assured staff that Barclays were committed to the second charge lender. |
